Artist statement
The infinite variability of nature fascinates me. Beaches and mountain streams, moorland and winding hill trails, drystone walls and rocky outcrops, low cloud and blue summer skies… all these elements of the landscape intrigue me and are running themes in my abstract and semi-abstract art. Using acrylics principally, but also incorporating oil pastels, collage, printmaking techniques and more, I repeatedly build layers and work back into them, developing, revealing and creating texture, to reflect the constant weathering and renewal in the natural world.

I am a keen urban sketcher and regularly go along to various groups to sketch in Manchester, Liverpool, Shrewsbury, and occasionallly further afield - Rome is our next Draw on Tour.

I started life drawing over ten years ago and am now co-organiser of Shrewsbury Life Drawing, which runs twice-weekly sessions in Shrewsbury. This is a great discipline and keeps my drawing skills up to scratch.
